Nebuta Festival Vase (Middle) | Tsugaru Vidro | Adelia

This handcrafted Tsugaru Vidro vase captures the vibrant energy and movement of Aomori Prefecture’s famous Nebuta Matsuri festival. Its bold, multicolored glasswork reflects the dynamism of the illuminated festival floats and the lively spirit of summer celebrations.

Each piece is mouth-blown by artisans at Hokuyo Glass, a studio renowned for preserving the traditional Tsugaru Vidro technique. The random yet harmonious mix of colors is created by layering molten glass with mineral pigments, then shaping it while hot. The result is a vivid surface where each color flows into the next, evoking fireworks, lantern light, and festival drumming.

With a generous shape and weight, this vase is ideal for large floral displays or as a standalone art piece. Its deep cultural reference makes it a meaningful gift for collectors of Japanese craft or those who appreciate the artistry of hand-blown glass.

Shirakamiyama Yellow Leaf Vase | Tsugaru Vidro | Adelia

Inspired by the Shirakami Mountains in the Tohoku region, this vase portrays the golden glow of autumn in the primeval beech forests. Each speckled pattern is shaped to resemble individual beech leaves, capturing the moment when the landscape turns a brilliant yellow.

Made by Hokuyo Glass artisans using the Tsugaru Vidro method, the piece blends traditional craftsmanship with natural inspiration. The color is achieved through layering and melting glass with mineral-based pigments, then carefully shaping it by hand. The organic patterning makes each vase one of a kind.

Its warm amber tones make it an inviting centerpiece for seasonal arrangements or a year-round display. It serves equally well as a cultural keepsake, carrying the imagery of one of Japan’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites into the home.
