The Strength of Earth | Artisan Bull & Calf Figurine Set

This sculptural bundle gathers four handmade ceramic creations from the De Rosa Collections, centered around the bull, a figure of raw energy, discipline, and ancestral reverence. Sculpted and painted by hand in Uruguay, each piece is a testament to the power of form, the detail of craftsmanship, and the symbolism of the animal itself.
Trimmed in 18k gold, platinum, and rich enamel, the collection blends earthy boldness with refined artistry.
These bulls don’t simply decorate a space, for they hold it. They anchor it. And through their stillness, they suggest something older than time: rootedness, resistance, presence.

1. Red Bull Figurine

Dimensions: 17×08×12 cm (6 5/8″×3 1/8″×4 3/4″) | Issue Year: 2011
Bold and kinetic, this bull sculpture uses shape and color to express tension in stillness. Its stance is set deep, hooves grounded. The red enamel swirls with black, cutting across the body in flowing, horn-like motifs, bordered by textured gold inlays. These swirling arcs don't distract; rather, they direct. They guide the eye along the muscular structure and toward the forward-facing horns, dipped in polished gold.
This piece is declarative. It radiates movement, even when at rest, embodying drive, focus, and the force of will. In myth and art, red often signals life force, sacrifice, and fire. Here, it shows up not as violence, but as sacred power held in check.

2. Black Bull Figurine

Dimensions: 17×08×12 cm (6 5/8″×3 1/8″×4 3/4″) | Issue Year: 2011
This is the quiet counterpart to the red bull. With a deep obsidian glaze and textured insets of rose gold and sand enamel, this figure takes the same powerful shape and tempers it with composure. There’s strength here, but also a quiet dignity.
While the red bull leans into motion, this one holds space. Its smooth surfaces reflect light with subtle sharpness. The curls across its back evoke horned iconography - half Celtic, half modern. It brings the symbolism of the bull into a more meditative frame: resilience, boundary, and internal might.

3. Mini Bull Figurine

Dimensions: 04×04×04 cm (1 5/8″×1 5/8″×1 5/8″) | Issue Year: 2022
Smaller in size, but no less intricate, this piece is covered in hand-stamped patterns and rough-textured glaze. With short legs, curved back, and oversized horns, it feels like an ancient idol, simplified and stylized.
Gold touches highlight its muzzle, hooves, and horns. The matte black coat contrasts against the gold to create depth. It could easily stand alone as a token of protection or good fortune, but within the bundle, it softens the overall tone, balancing the strength of the larger bulls.

4. Calf Figurine (Mini Bull Calf)

Dimensions: 11x06x08 cm (4 3/8″x2 3/8″x3 1/8″) | Issue Year: 2007
This gentle calf carries the charm of innocence and promise. While the bulls emphasize strength and maturity, the calf invites softness. Its woolly-textured surface mimics young fur, hand-sculpted with winding curls and finished with gold accents on its ears, snout, and hooves. The face is steady, curious, and still - a perfect foil to the intensity of the bulls.
Symbolically, it suggests legacy, future, and the gentler roots of power. It represents what strength protects, not just itself, but what comes after.
The bull has long stood as a figure of protection, sacrifice, fertility, and power. In ancient Mesopotamia, it pulled the chariot of the gods. In Minoan culture, it leapt through myth and ritual. In modern life, it remains a mark of endurance and perseverance.
But this collection deepens that. It pairs raw masculinity with softness. It places old-world symbolism next to modern sculptural curves. It builds tension between movement and poise, letting them live side by side.
These pieces are not just about the animal, for they’re about what the animal means. About holding strength with grace. About respecting the quiet parts of power. And about beauty that doesn’t shout, be sure that it anchors...
