The Kiriko Reimagined Glass is a rare, limited-edition work of contemporary Japanese glass art. Only 100 pieces were ever made, created in collaboration with Haruka Horie, a skilled glass-blowing artist. Each piece is handmade from natural soda glass in Tokyo, using the traditional Kiriko cutting technique, which involves hand-blowing, hand-cutting, and hand-polishing every detail.
This special edition glass was first introduced through a design project on Kickstarter, where half of the collection sold immediately. The remaining pieces are made available exclusively until they are gone, making each one a collectible treasure.
The glass showcases three classical Japanese patterns:
- Kiku Tsunagi (linked chrysanthemums): A motif of interconnected chrysanthemums, representing long life, renewal, and harmony.
- Kagome (woven bamboo lattice): A geometric design symbolizing protection, strength, and resilience.
- Nanako (fish roe pattern): A fine dotted design that conveys abundance, prosperity, and continuity.
These patterns have been used in Japanese crafts for centuries, and here they are reimagined in a bold new way, arranged across a rounded, modern form. The iridescent surface gives a watercolor-like effect, shifting colors with the light. The patterns appear different depending on angle, time of day, and environment, making the glass a living artwork that is never static.
Beyond its visual beauty, the glass embodies the philosophy of Japanese craftsmanship: patience, precision, and reverence for tradition balanced with innovation. Its weight, detail, and luminous quality make it equally suited as a centerpiece, a display item, or a functional glass for daily enjoyment.
Because of its rarity and intricate design, this piece is highly valued as a collector’s item and a meaningful gift for milestones, cultural appreciation, or special occasions.
