The Garden Choir | A Handcrafted Bird Figurine Set
This handcrafted bird set from De Rosa Collections brings together six distinct songbirds, each captured mid-chirp, feathered in vivid enamel glazes, and brushed with accents of gold and platinum.
Hand-carved in Uruguay, no two are the same. Together, they form a small chorus of stillness, an ensemble of presence and poetry.
1. Robin #1
Dimensions: 10×07×08 cm (3 7/8″×2 3/4″×3 1/8″) | Issue Year: 2016
Plump and soft-looking, with a layered chest of warm orange feathers, this robin figurine rests with quiet focus. The feathers, sculpted in fine ridges, mimic the texture of real plumage, while the shiny glaze deepens the warmth of its gaze. The robin symbolizes rebirth, renewal, and homecoming. It brings a message of hope through cold seasons.
2. Robin #2
Dimensions: 05×08×07 cm (1 7/8″×3 1/8″×2 3/4″) | Issue Year: 2024
This smaller robin offers a different posture: more alert, perhaps in mid-song or just before flight. With deep orange chest plumage, a soft grey crown, and a gleaming gold-tipped beak, it pairs naturally with its larger counterpart. Robins are often tied to folklore as messengers or guardians, and this one feels like a symbol of small, everyday joy.
3. Kingfisher
Dimensions: 08×07×09 cm (3 1/8″×2 3/4″×3 1/2″) | Issue Year: 2021
With its long beak, scaled blue textures, and bright orange undercoat, this kingfisher carries a sense of movement, even in stillness. It is carved with high precision - the fine detailing around the crown and wings shows extraordinary craftsmanship. Kingfishers stand for patience, clarity, and calm hunting energy. They wait, observe, and strike with purpose.
4. Red Wren
Dimensions: 10×07×08 cm (3 7/8″×2 3/4″×3 1/8″) | Issue Year: 2016
Rounded and richly colored, the red wren wears its boldness proudly. Its feather texture is sculpted into overlapping scales. Wrens are known as secretive birds that sing loudly despite their size. In mythology, they represent cleverness and endurance... small forces that make a big impact.
5. Blue Tit
Dimensions: 09×06×07 cm (3 1/2″×2 3/8″×2 3/4″) | Issue Year: 2016
Bright blue wings, lemon-yellow belly, and sharp black eye lines mark this figurine with unmistakable detail. The De Rosa Blue Tit is cheerful, compact, and curious in its pose. In European tradition, the blue tit is a symbol of resilience and happiness. It often shows up near windows, a reminder of small blessings close to home.
6. Cardinal
Dimensions: 11×06×09 cm (4 3/8″×2 3/8″×3 1/2″) | Issue Year: 2016
Tall and striking, this red cardinal watches over the flock. Its posture is proud, its crown sharply defined, and its colors deep with authority. Cardinals are thought to carry messages from the spirit world - visitors from beyond. They stand for vitality, clarity, and presence. In this set, the cardinal leads without effort.
This collection is more than a gathering of birds, for it’s a meditation on voice, form, and presence. Birds don’t strive to be beautiful because they simply are. Each figure here holds a moment in time: a tilt of the head, a glint in the eye, the fullness of the chest as if filled with song.
Placed together, they form a still garden in ceramic and glaze. In their differences, there is harmony. In their stillness, there is life. These sculptures remind us of morning light, open windows, and the steady rhythm of nature outside our walls.
Each bird speaks to a different part of the spirit: the robin’s hope, the kingfisher’s patience, the wren’s cleverness, the tit’s joy, and the cardinal’s watchfulness.
Displayed as a group, they become a symbol of the variety and unity found in the natural world.
