The Wireless Cloisonné Universe 4.5 Vase Series brings the cosmos into a refined, compact form. Handcrafted by Kato Shippo Seisakusyo in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, each vase draws on the long tradition of Owari Cloisonné, a craft known for its luminous enamel surfaces and deep, layered colors.
This series represents three elements:
- Sora (Navy Blue) - Symbolizing space, it reflects the boundless depth of the night sky.
- Mizu (Green) - Representing water, it captures the shifting shades of oceans and rivers under light.
- Yo (Red) - Expressing yang, it conveys strength, energy, and radiance.
The rounded tamagata (egg-shaped) or ball-shaped form serves as a single-flower vase, making it ideal for minimalist floral arrangements or as a standalone art object. The smooth copper body is coated with silver and finished with a glassy glaze, creating a surface that shimmers with subtle tonal shifts depending on angle and lighting.
Owari Cloisonné has been practiced for over a century, requiring precision and patience. Layers of enamel are applied and fired repeatedly, each stage adding depth and richness to the color. The result is a jewel-like finish with a sense of movement, evoking galaxies, waves, or flowing energy.
Beyond its visual beauty, the piece holds cultural meaning. In Japanese aesthetics, deep blue often symbolizes calm and contemplation, green suggests renewal and life, and red signifies vitality and auspiciousness. Together, they embody balance and harmony. These vases are often given as gifts for weddings, anniversaries, or milestones, reflecting wishes for prosperity and lasting beauty.
