This round pewter vase, crafted by Osaka Suzuki, represents the heritage of Osaka Naniwa Pewter Ware, a craft tradition with over 300 years of history dating back to the Edo period. The vase’s form is compact yet weighty, with a diameter proportionate to its height of 15 cm (5.9 in), giving it balance and presence. Its surface features an intricate engraved landscape scene, likely inspired by Japanese seasonal views, with bridges, trees, and distant mountains rendered in fine, precise lines.

Made from high-quality tin, the vase is naturally resistant to rust and discoloration. Tin has long been valued in Japan for its ability to purify water by absorbing impurities, which has made it a favored material not only for tableware but also for decorative and ceremonial vessels.
