This small vase is crafted in the Owari Cloisonné tradition by Kato Shippo Seisakusyo in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Designed to rest comfortably in the palm of the hand, it combines delicate artistry with centuries-old enamel techniques.

The body is adorned with a sakura (cherry blossom) motif, rendered in warm pinks and soft reds with gold-edged petals. The blossoms are set against a white enamel base, their colors glowing beneath a high-gloss finish. This reflective surface enhances the depth of each petal and brings out the fine silver wirework that defines the shapes - a signature of authentic cloisonné craftsmanship.

Cherry blossoms carry deep cultural meaning in Japan, symbolizing renewal, the beauty of impermanence, and the arrival of spring. The scattered petals suggest gentle movement, capturing the moment blossoms fall through the air. This imagery conveys both elegance and a quiet awareness of life’s fleeting beauty.

Owari Cloisonné (shippo-yaki) is a meticulous process in which enamel glaze is applied to a copper form, separated by silver wire cells, and repeatedly fired to fuse the glass-like surface to the metal. The result is a smooth, durable finish that will last for generations when cared for properly. Over time, the silver may develop a patina, which can be lightly polished to restore its brightness.

At just 6 cm in height, this vase is ideal for a single small stem, seasonal display, or as a stand-alone decorative piece. Its compact size makes it a meaningful gift, while its craftsmanship ensures it will remain a cherished keepsake.
