Kings of the Wild | Limited Edition Lion Sculpture Set

This powerful duo of ceramic lion sculptures by De Rosa captures two sides of kingship: action and restraint.
Hand-carved and hand-painted in Uruguay, these limited edition works are sculptural tributes to strength, command, and ancestral presence.

1. Lion Walking | Limited Edition (2023)

Dimensions: 40×16×33 cm (15 3/4″×6 1/4″×12 7/8″) | Limited to 1000 Pieces
The Walking Lion is captured mid-stride, head raised, mouth slightly open, teeth visible in a subtle show of dominance. Its posture is alive, alert, ready, yet never rushed. The mane flows back from its brow in dense, layered waves of brown, black, and golden ochre. Streaks of enamel gold curve between the curls, bringing movement to every lock.
Its body is covered in short, stippled textures that mimic the natural pattern of a lion’s fur, rendered in warm sandy tones. Golden claws emerge from strong paws, grounding the figure with confident weight. The eyes are round, forward-facing, and purposeful. They don’t threaten, but they do claim space.
This sculpture evokes leadership through movement. It is a lion in motion, not attacking, and certainly not lounging, but walking with certainty. It belongs to no one. It is not here for permission.

2. Majestic Lion | Limited Edition (2014)

Dimensions: 28×19×33 cm (11 1/4″×7 1/2″×12 7/8″) | Limited to 1000 Pieces
This seated lion is broader, deeper in hue, and fully at rest. Its pose is upright but still. One leg crosses slightly in front of the other, and its tail curls along its base in a relaxed sweep. The expression is serene, with a closed mouth and half-lowered gaze that seems to survey the room with quiet awareness.
The mane is dense and detailed, even more layered than its counterpart, with curled ridges painted in black, deep bronze, and gold, each line distinct. The glaze work is exceptional: sections of the mane shimmer subtly, catching light without glare. The body’s texture is smoother than the Walking Lion’s, more polished, as if burnished by time.
This lion doesn’t need to prove anything. Its power is in its calm. It’s a sculpture about presence, about earned respect, not brute force. It feels timeless, regal, like something once placed outside temples or courts.
The two lions, while similar in subject, carry distinct emotional weight.
One strides forward - the archetype of will and momentum.
The other sits still, anchored, wise, settled. Together, they present a balanced portrayal of leadership. Not all kings roar. Some simply remain.
This set is not about decoration. It’s about posture, about presence, about the silence before action or the stillness after command. The lions speak without words. They belong in spaces where depth is valued - in offices, libraries, halls of memory.

In these forms, the lion becomes not a symbol of courage or pride, and of clarity.
