This hand-cut crystal vessel was designed and created by Junichi Nabetani, a master of traditional Japanese crafts, for Kagami Crystal. Using the celebrated Edo Kiriko cut glass technique, each piece is carefully crafted by hand, showing the deep precision and artistry of Japanese glassmaking.

The design features the Tama-Kiku Tsunagi pattern, a combination of rounded cuts (tama) and interconnected chrysanthemums (kiku). The chrysanthemum motif is an enduring symbol of longevity, renewal, and high status in Japan, often associated with elegance and refinement. The interplay of shapes creates a rhythm of light and shadow across the surface, giving the piece both strength and delicacy.

The warm golden-yellow hue enhances the brilliance of the cuts, catching light in a way that resembles sunlight filtering through blossoms. This color, often linked to prosperity and celebration, makes the vessel well-suited for festive dining occasions, seasonal gatherings, or as a centerpiece.

The katakuchi form, with its single spout, is designed for easy pouring. Beyond practical use, it also carries cultural value, as it has long been a vessel shape used in both daily life and ceremonial settings in Japan. Whether used to serve drinks at the table or displayed as an art object, it reflects harmony between function and beauty.

This piece embodies the spirit of Edo Kiriko: clarity, geometry, and symbolic patterns cut into crystal by hand. Each vessel is slightly unique due to the hand-finishing process, making it both a collector’s item and a usable work of Japanese design.
