The Interior-Like Flower Vase by Foo Tokyo is a porcelain piece that blends traditional motifs with a modern form. Made by hand in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, Japan’s historic pottery region, each vase is shaped and finished by skilled artisans. The surface features Foo Tokyo’s original “Interior-Like” pattern, combining the acanthus leaf motif of ancient Greece with small birds that symbolize happiness. This design shares visual roots with Japan’s traditional karakusa (arabesque) pattern, long regarded as a symbol of prosperity, longevity, and good fortune.
The vase’s shape is defined by a narrow neck that rises from a faceted, geometric base, creating a balanced form that is both decorative and functional. Available in two finishes - gray, with fine visible detailing, and white, with subtle tonal patterns - the piece can be used to hold a single bloom, a small branch, or simply stand alone as a minimalist object.
Porcelain’s smooth matte texture and the fine etched patterns add visual depth without overpowering its surroundings. Whether placed on a dining table, windowsill, or entryway, the vase lends a sense of calm and refinement. Its understated presence works well in modern interiors while paying homage to centuries of Japanese ceramic tradition.
