Product 1: Rocks Glass - Kasaneirome Tamamai (Juggling Balls) | Edo Kiriko | Kagami Crystal

The Kasaneirome Tamamai rocks glass is a creation of master Edo Kiriko craftsman Hideaki Shinozaki. Inspired by the playfulness of juggling balls, the design brings together precision cutting and layered colorwork to create an effect that resembles a shifting kaleidoscope.

Using the Kasaneirome (layered color) technique, a thin sheet of colored crystal is left within the carved cuts, allowing both transparency and depth to coexist. When light strikes the glass, the interplay of blue and amber tones produces patterns that seem to change with every angle.

The faceted details are cut with meticulous balance, giving a rhythm and harmony to the glass’s appearance. Much like a kaleidoscope toy admired in childhood, the tumbler evokes wonder while standing firmly as a work of traditional Japanese artistry.

This piece also functions as a decorative object. Displayed under natural or artificial light, the cut crystal reveals shifting layers of brilliance, making it equally suited for daily use or for appreciation as a collector’s piece.

Product 2: Rocks Glass - Kasaneirome Ogiku (Chrysanthemum in Abundance) | Edo Kiriko | Kagami Crystal

The Kasaneirome Ogiku rocks glass was designed by Edo Kiriko artisan Junichi Nabetani. Its name means “Chrysanthemum in Abundance,” a flower long associated in Japan with longevity, renewal, and imperial elegance. The bold chrysanthemum motif is cut in large scale across the glass, creating a dynamic and striking impression.

Through the Kasaneirome layered color method, the glass combines blue and amber hues, which shift beautifully depending on the angle and lighting. The cuts allow light to reflect from multiple layers, so the appearance transforms as the glass is turned in the hand.

The chrysanthemum, a symbol deeply tied to Japanese tradition, represents endurance and the beauty of cycles in nature. When paired with Edo faceting, the result is a glass that is both symbolic and visually captivating. It can be appreciated both in use and as a decorative object, admired for its craft and cultural resonance.
