This Edo Kiriko Daruma figurine is crafted from gold-red cased crystal glass by Kagami Crystal, a renowned glassmaker in Ibaraki, Japan. Each piece is cut by hand and finished with sandblasting to create a soft, frosted glow that contrasts with the brilliant faceted surfaces. The design represents a Daruma doll, an enduring Japanese symbol of perseverance, protection, and good fortune.

In this special design, both eyes are open from the start - a variation believed to “look directly at the world, ward off evil, and invite happiness.” The crystal’s deep red hue, often associated with vitality and celebration in Japanese culture, pairs with auspicious Edo Kiriko patterns such as “shikaku kagome” (basket weave) and “nanako” (fish roe), each carrying meanings of strength, harmony, and prosperity.

The Daruma’s rounded form makes it stable and symbolic of resilience, standing up no matter how many times it falls. The gold-red crystal body refracts light beautifully, creating a striking presence in any room. It rests on a traditional woven cushion with tassels, completing its ceremonial appearance.

Now available in three sizes, this figurine suits different display spaces and gifting occasions. The Small size works well for personal desks or shelves. The Medium and Large sizes make a statement in living rooms, reception areas, or as centerpiece display pieces. Each size carries the same cultural meaning and craftsmanship quality.

This Edo Kiriko Daruma is an ideal gift for milestones such as store openings, housewarmings, promotions, inaugurations, 60th birthdays, or longevity celebrations. It is both a work of art and a vessel of cultural symbolism, blending Edo-period glass-cutting tradition with the spirit of prayer and celebration.
