This pair of Edo Kiriko elegant glasses is crafted by Kagami Crystal, one of Japan’s most respected glassmakers. Each glass is cut from fine crystal and decorated with two traditional patterns: bamboo leaves (take no ha) and basket weave (yotsume kago).

The bamboo leaf design represents strength, growth, and resilience, as bamboo stretches toward the sky regardless of season. The basket weave pattern has been used in Japanese crafts for centuries as a protective motif, believed to ward off misfortune while symbolizing stability and interconnectedness. Together, these patterns reflect both beauty and meaning, making the glasses objects that carry cultural symbolism.

The bowl of the glass displays these intricate cuts, catching and refracting light in vivid red and blue hues. The stem is also faceted, giving not only a decorative element but also a steady, comfortable grip. Each detail is executed by hand using Edo Kiriko, a cut-glass technique developed in Tokyo in the early 19th century.

With a capacity of 190ml, the glasses are ideal for sparkling or other celebratory drinks. They can be used in both non-Japanese and Japanese dining settings, bridging tradition and modernity.

The red and blue pair makes an especially meaningful gift for weddings, anniversaries, or other shared milestones. Red is often linked with vitality and celebration, while blue suggests harmony and peace; together they express balance and union.
