The Bamboo Leaves & Octagonal Basket Weave Vase is a handcrafted crystal piece made by Kagami Crystal, Japan’s most renowned Edo Kiriko workshop. Produced in Ibaraki, this vase showcases two classic Edo Kiriko patterns: “take no ha” (bamboo leaves) and “kagome” (octagonal basket weave); they are cut into a double-layered crystal structure.
The outer layer is deep red crystal, while the inner layer is clear crystal glass. This layered construction enhances the sharpness and brilliance of each cut, allowing the patterns to stand out with exceptional clarity. Light reflects through the intricate facets, creating a dynamic play of color and sparkle that changes with every angle.
The bamboo leaf motif represents growth, resilience, and good fortune, while the kagome pattern, derived from traditional basket weaving, symbolizes protection and strength. Together, these designs embody wishes for prosperity and safety, making the vase not only a decorative object but also a meaningful cultural artifact.
Its tall, elegant form is ideal for floral arrangements but equally striking as a standalone display piece. Whether placed in a modern home or a traditional setting, it adds sophistication, artistry, and a touch of Japanese heritage.
